Our Mission: Regeneration of India through True Democracy

Dear patriots,

We are a small group of patriots concerned with the degradation of our society as a whole and its political institutions in particular, deteriorating day-by-day, threatening our existence as a national entity, despite all the constitutional amendments, judicial activism and efforts by many reform activists to rectify the anomalies. We propose dialogue between the like minded patriots concerned with the state of our politics and society to expose the causes and prescribe possible remedies to achieve our common dream: a strong India, a ‘Great India’.
 
Degeneration is manifested as:

• Character-crisis in our socio-political leadership (the Raja) causing abject moral decay to the masses (the Praja), breeding rampant corruption, nepotism and all the related maladies, cowardice and hypocrisy becoming our national trait.
• Instability and inefficiency of the coalition politics caused by the ‘Proliferation of the political parties’. Opportunistic political rhetoric and populist and sectarian policies by the political parties, especially by the regional and religious/casty ones, fomenting communal passions eyeing only on vote banks for the ever-imminent elections are threatening national disintegration and hindering fiscal progress far bellow our potential. Last few years we helplessly witnessed scores of scams, three hung parliaments and scores of coalition governments at center; four of them unceremoniously toppled and fate of the present one is anybody’s guess. Situation in provinces had deteriorated long ago.

I would compare a vibrant democracy with a multi-storied pyramid, each floor with two doors with contrasting characters: ‘One door attracts and filters-in the most competent ones from the level bellow it, while second door continuously purge any one seen not so competent during their limited tenure there’. Hence the ‘better’ keep rising while even the ‘good’ fall on the wayside. This ensures that each layer is perpetually rejuvenated with new blood and the apex layer of the pyramid, seat of the highest authority (be it a political party or a government at any level), is always occupied by the most competent among the aspirants. Unfortunately those doors are malfunctioning in the Indian Democracy - they are attracting and filtering-in the opportunistic sycophants and purging any one exhibiting a grain of competence and independence. My endeavor is to expose the cause of this flaw and rectify it to regenerate our society to a vibrant one.

Many of our reformers and intellectuals are projecting corruption, communalism, diversity, etc… and few even perceive political parties and/or its leaders as causes of the degradation.  We at great India believe, with reason, that they are the symptoms of, or the basic traits aggravated by, the perverted/pseudo-democracy we practice. 
 
All of us perceive deferent reasons for degeneration and are trying in as many ways for our common goal – i.e. Regeneration of India – mostly dissipating our resources with out being able to make any dent to the rot. I propose to make a confederation of such reform activist/NGOs in an effort to give such efforts a clearer direction direction. This is not an effort to organize another political party, or to project a leader.
